| First Rounders don't always mean a franchise player! | | The nfl draft is right around the corner and the talk so much on the first round of the draft. The thought process from fans is if your taken in the first round your going to be make it to the hall of fame or be that franchise name. Since you figure the players in the first round make more money than any of the other players taken from any other of the other rounds. The answer to this is no. Yes you might be taken in the first round. Yes you might have had a great college career. Yes you might have a lot of talent. Answering yes to them doesn't mean you will ever meet the expectations set for you.Lets look back at a few players taken overall number one since 2000. Courtney Brown drafted number 1 overall by the Browns in 2000. Michael Vick drafted number 1 overall by the Falcons in 2001. David Carr drafted number 1 overall by the Texans in 2002. Carson Palmer drafted number 1 overall by the Bengals in 2003. Eli Manning drafted number 1 by the Chargers than traded to the Giants in 2004. | | all rounders | | I think our indian team needs two or three major all rounders. For instance, you take
south africa's ALBIE MORKEL AND JACQUES KALLIS, they are plus points for the team . | |
|
| We need more All Rounders | | If you remember the 1983 world cup where Indian team excelled, we find that 9 out 11 players were all rounders. In the present team this number is hardly 2 or 3. I think depending entirely on specialist bowlers or batsman doesn't works out.A player is one who contributes to the game where ever he is asked for. Indian team selctors should see that such players who are allrounders should definately get place in the team. The ratio for all rounders and specialist players could be somewhere 7:4 . I think this will workout in better performance of the team. | |
| | Wikcet Keeping batsmen all rounders | | In Tests & One Dayers all wicket keepers are exceptional batsman. Not only they are extremely consistent with the bat, all of them are genuine watch winners who can single handedly change the course of a match. Gilchrist, Andy Flower, Alec Stewart, Sangakara, Dhoni have amazing career records. What is more important most of these players are also the key batsmen of their team. Yet they are not classified as all-rounders. Why only bowlers are considered as allrounders> I thnk even wicket keeper batsmen who peform consistenly with the bat should be classified as all-rounders. | |
